A NASA research office in Ohio has been renamed after space traveler Neil Armstrong, who was brought into the world in the state and returned soon after he turned into the primary man to stroll on the moon.

Ohio's U.S. representatives drove the endeavors to change the name of the NASA Plum Brook Station in Sandusky to the Neil A. Armstrong Test Facility.

Conservative Rob Portman said he raised the thought with Armstrong in 2012, in no time before Armstrong's passing, yet he wasn't happy with the consideration it would bring.

It was never about him. It was about the mission, Portman said Wednesday at a function denoting the name change.

NASA and Armstrong's family upheld renaming the exploration place, Portman said.

Armstrong's child, Mark Armstrong, said the early space missions showed individuals across the world that they could do things they would never envision.

That is more engaging than any logical headway, he said. It's more enabling than the semiconductor. It's more enabling than the PC. Since it's limitless. Furthermore, that is the thing that we need to remind individuals.

Armstrong was conceived right external Wapakoneta in 1930, took flying exercises at a close-by airstrip, and made his first performance trip at age 16. After the moon's arrival in 1969, he was educated at the University of Cincinnati.
